December 2019 Minutes
December 5, 2019, Fallon Medical Complex Dining Room
Members present: Karol & Steve Zachmann, Tammy O’Donnell, Alissa Miller, Trish Barth, Emily Medearis, Nick Shumacher, Mona Madler
Vice president Alissa Miller called the meeting to order.
Approval of Minutes: Karol moved to approve, Steve seconded, all in favor
Financial Report: All bills are paid, New accounts are set up at the Bank of Baker. Karol is getting the update for Quickbooks. Tammy will send Baker Metal a thank you for donating helium for the calcutta
NEW BUSINESS:
Calcutta: We reviewed the calcutta numbers
Country Christmas Countdown: was well attended. Will need to meet for a follow up. Some things mentioned for next year was a microphone for announcements and asking Baker and Plevna school choirs to participate. Boy Scouts did well with food sales.
Chamber Lighting Contest will be judged, Monday, Dec. 9. Karol, Alissa, Mona & Trish will meet at the SMART office at 6 p.m. to judge.
We will again sponsor Be A Winner! Shop in Baker! Drawings will be held 3 weeks in Dec. with each winner getting $100 in Baker Bucks. Karol will get the Baker Bucks for this drawing and the Lighting Contest.
Christmas Stroll, Wednesday, Dec. 11: Santa will be at Fire Hall from 4-6 p.m., FMC Chili Feed will be 5-7 p.m. at Thee Garage. Tammy ordered apples, oranges and candy canes for 150 goodie bags We will meet (NOTE: 130 goodie bags were given out) Ace provided the bags and there are some small toys from the Rec Dept. to add to the bags. We will meet at the Chamber office Wednesday morning at 8:30 to fill the bags. Mona will line up the Santa and Alissa will dress as an elf.
2020 Membership: Discussed changes and additions to membership forms and sending out renewals. Decided we should add a line for business website and include all Chamber activities on the form
REPORTS:
Trish Barth reported that the Boy Scouts will hold their food drive Dec. 10 at Reynolds.
Steve Zachmann, City of Baker: Conditional use permit for RV Park was denied unanimously at a public hearing. The city voted to reactivate the reserve officer program. One officer has resigned. The January City Council meetings will be Jan. 8 & 22.
Nick Shumacher, Plevna School: Christmas Concert is tonight. First home basketball games are in January. The have boy’s JV and girls’ varsity. They have new coaching staff this year. MidRivers gave Plevna Schools a $4000 tech grant for the purchase of a digital embroidery machine. There are 104 students in the school and no seniors.
Karol Zachmann, FMC: Cookbooks are in and for sale. Healthy Lifestyles is coming Jan. 21-22. There is an opportunity for corporate sponsorship if anyone is interested. Tickets are on sal for the Fantasy Food Fair which will be held Dec. 7. The new phone system has been installed.
Trish moved to adjourn the meeting. Karol seconded. All in favor.
